They were brought inside through a separate route instead. Her parents had arrived earlier. All four were waiting in the suite above the terrace, out of sight.
Alex and Camelia went into Le Bar for a drink. A few minutes later, Alex excused himself. The ring was in his jacket. The terrace was ready.
A hostess approached Camelia with a single red rose and a note in Alex’s hand. She read it alone at the table. The hostess waited, then asked her to follow.
The suite door opened to harp and violin. A path of candles led down the internal staircase and out onto the terrace.
At the far end, framed by a red floral cascade with the Eiffel Tower directly behind him, Alex went down on one knee. She crossed the terrace. He held his position. She reached him. She said yes.
For a few seconds it was only the two of them, the music, and the Tower. Then the terrace doors opened, and her family stepped out with champagne.

After the proposal, Alex and Camelia stayed at Shangri-La for champagne with family, terrace dinner, a birthday cake, and a midnight drive.
Her parents came out first, then her sister and her partner. All four had been hidden upstairs since before Camelia read the note. That was the part she never saw coming.
Juliana had the couple in position for the Eiffel Tower sparkle after dark, on the hour. Those portraits looked nothing like a public terrace: a close Tower, a clear frame, no strangers, and no rush. Then she walked them through the hotel for more portraits while the terrace changed for dinner. Same address, same view, a new pace.
Dinner was set for six on the terrace. Her father’s birthday cake came out before dessert, arranged weeks earlier without Camelia knowing. Near midnight, a limousine took all six through the lit city.

Here, the cover solved a second problem: family. Camelia’s sister and her partner were part of the photoshoot, so their exit had to feel normal. It did. They said they were meeting friends and walked away. Her parents had come earlier through a different route.
The last step was the rose and the note, and that part belonged to Alex. Our job was to hold it until the right beat, place it in the hostess’s hand, and make sure the terrace was ready before Camelia stood up from the bar.
